A delicately blued cheese. A single herd, raw Shorthorn cow’s milk cheese, Blue Whinnow is unique to Thornby Moor Dairy and sold almost exclusively within Cumbria.
Matured to around 8-10 weeks, it is firmer, in terms of texture, compared with other Blues.
It’s made from the milk produced by the Shorthorn cows who graze on the rolling hills at the nearby hamlet of Micklethwaite, and is a firm-bodied cheese with delicate bluing.
A delicately flavoured, firm bodied cheese with equally delicate bluing – a good partner to dry sherry.
